Some Steaks, A Little Tango and Too Many Wines!

Mohit Gupta

Ah, you know what I’m talking about here. Home to Messi and the mighty Iguazu. A favourite on everyone’s bucket lists, South America is true, raw and exciting. A paradise of sorts, and a bouquet of experiences.

Buenos Aires is usually the starting point for a trip anywhere in Argentina, and for the right reasons. If you have been there, you know the city is the most alive, exciting and heart-pumping as it gets. Some sensuous tango, Malbec wines and a sort of european flair, and you have the best place in the world to be at. Argentina has been on my list for an extremely long time. What with the Peruvian mountains, Iguazu Falls, the Atacama calling from a distance and a multitude of experiences all around. But most importantly, the gateway to the Antarctic. So, if 2021 goes well, you might see me sailing away to South America very soon!

While we dream about the land of gods, Buenos Aires will be top on my list. For this, we can thank my foodie nature and undying love for cultural exploration. I could lose and find myself while strolling through Recoleta, Palermo or the famed San Telmo with borderline visits to an Estancia before I head on for the more in-depth travels of the country. Known as the Paris of South America, Buenos Aires is fulfilling when it comes to fashion exploration and some much-needed gastro-experiences too!

With its myriad kaleidoscope of cultures, experiences, people and music, I know once I go here, I will never want to come back. There is something about being in a place where nights are filled with music and dancing, cocktails flowing and everyone letting loose. It is enigmatic, unforgettable and irreplaceable. It is something that awakens our souls, beats the rhythms inside and gets us jiving every single day. This is Buenos Aires for you!

And why limit the experiences only to the outside. The hotels of Buenos Aires offer true heritage and culture in their design, hospitality and their cuisines too. A little fire, a lot of ice and exciting languages is all that Argentina offers. So the hotel’s too, naturally offer the best of the best. One such property, and a sureshot on my bucket list is the Home Hotel. This exciting, chic hotel came into existence when an Argentinian PR director and her husband were struggling to find the perfect place for their guests to stay during their wedding. So voila! They opened Home, a place with a bar, a spa, a pool and some excellent cocktails. A friendly environment and homely staff made this one of the pioneer properties in Palermo’s permanently alive neighborhood. Strategically located within blocks of much of the city’s nightlife, Home has become something of a beginner’s base for those coming to the city looking to indulge in it.

The focal points of the property being their exclusive rooms, a large garden area, chilean wood in the rooms as well as the embracing vibe of the whole hotel. There is not a minute that goes by without you thinking to yourself “I feel just at home in this vibrant city!”.

So while you trace the map to find the perfect route for your South America touring, don’t miss a few nights here. Because, a tango or two is never enough, but essential to your experiences!
